The trailer for X-Men: First Class was released today!

admin / December 15th, 2010

As there is no news at all the moment here’s the official synopsis of Nicholas’ newest movie X-Men: First Class.

X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

Nicholas Hoult, who we heard yesterday was testing for the lead role in Bryan Singer’s Jack the Giant Killer, has been busy filming X-Men: First Class under the direction of Matthew Vaughn for around 4 months now. We have yet to see any official images of the actor as Hank McCoy/Beast, but we should get a glimpse soon as the actor recently revealed filming is drawing to a close.

Mr Hoult said: “It’s going well, it’s a lot of fun. We are coming towards the end of filming but there is still a fair bit to do.

“Some days it can be four hours getting the prosthetics and stuff on. We should be finished just before Christmas.”

The prosthetics department must be busy. Jennifer Lawrence, who will play Mystique in the film, said earlier this year that it takes make-up artists about six hours to transform her into Mystique with the blue skin and scales.

Hoult talking about prosthetics also hints that we could see the big transformation scene where Hank McCoy turns blue and furry for the first time. That’s a scene i’m really looking forward to as i’ve been a fan of the character since the 90s cartoon, and it’s something we didn’t get the chance to see with Kelsey Grammer’s Beast in X3.

With X-Men: First Class soon entering post-production we will probably get a teaser trailer in the new year.

The big movie that young Hollywood is vying for this month is Jack the Giant Killer, with director Bryan Singer set to conduct testing for the male and female leads in London within the next two weeks.

The script – the most recent one is by Singer’s Usual Suspects collaborator Christopher McQuarrie – is set in motion when a princess is kidnapped, threatening the longstanding peace between humans and giants. A young farmer is then forced to lead a rescue mission to the giants’ kingdom.

Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass), Nicholas Hoult (A Single Man) and relatively unknown Aneurin Bernard are up for the young farmer role.

Australian actress Adelaide Kane (Neighbours), Lily Collins and Juno Temple are testing for the part of the princess. Collins is the daughter of Phil Collins.

Filming on Mad Max: Fury Road has already been subject to delays. The six-month $100 million shoot was meant to kick off August 2010 with stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron in New South Wales, before the start date was revised to February of next year. The production has been pushed back again, this time a full year to February 2012.

Even worse, The Australian [via /Film] reports that “the high Australian dollar could ultimately kill the film as its budget grows.” The first delay was for meteorological reasons, but the report doesn’t specify the nature of this postponement. Is an ever-bloating budget to blame? Hit the jump for a brief recap of what we know about the Mad Max reboot.

Peter Molyneux is upgrading the star power of his next “Fable.”

The creative director of Microsoft Game Studios Europe has tapped Simon Pegg, Michael Fassbender, John Cleese and other actors to lend their accents to “Fable III,” the third chapter of Lionhead Studios’ role-playing saga set in the fictional realm of Albion. Pegg, who played Scotty in “Star Trek,” will voice an attention-seeking soldier named Benn Finn.

“These people have really never come together before in any medium,” Molyneux said. “For a lot of them, this is their first computer game they’ve ever done. Heading the cast is John Cleese, one of the founding fathers of ‘Monty Python.’ He’s made fantastic films like ‘Life of Brian’ and the TV series ‘Fawlty Towers.’ He’s just a brilliant and incredible actor.”

Cleese plays Jasper, a persnickety butler who guides the player along their journey to dethrone a tyrannical ruler named Logan, voiced by “Inglourious Basterds” actor Fassbender. Other voices will include Bernard Hill as the player’s faithful mentor, Nicholas Hoult as a potential love interest and Naomie Harris as the leader of a rebel movement.

Zoe Wanamaker and Stephen Fry will also reprise their “Fable II” roles.

He’s best known in the UK for his role in Skins as Tony ‘preening fool rescued from his own wankiness by being hit by a bus’ Stonem (a role which he handled with aplomb).

However, his most impressive performances to date have come in his breakthrough role as Marcus in About A Boy, providing a much better foil for Mr Grant than Bullock, Roberts, McDowell or Barrymore ever could, and in the BBC drama Coming Down The Mountain. In this Mark Haddon-scripted teleplay he managed to evoke empathy for his character, David, whose main pastimes included abusing his Down’s syndrome suffering brother and trying to kill him. This may not be quite as big an achievement as making Hugh Grant seem likeable, but it’s impressive all the same.

Following minor roles in Clash Of The Titans and Adulthood and a stellar performance in A Single Man, he looks to have hit the big time in the movies, cast as Hank McCoy in the upcoming X-Men prequel X-Men: First Class. His agent must watch About A Boy on his HDTV in his penthouse apartment bought with his fifteen percent thinking, “thank God he got so handsome!”

Actor Nicholas Hoult has spoken about his eye-opening visit to some of Kenya’s poorest slums.

The actor recently returned from the region after spending a few days visiting two neighbouring slums in Nairobi to promote this year’s Christian Aid Week.
Hoult, who has most recently starred in Tom Ford’s A Single Man, discovered what everyday life was like for 300 families living in the Matopeni slum.
The 20-year-old described the conditions as horrific.
It was “like a music festival where you can’t get out, and the toilets never get cleaned and there’s no music”, he said.

I saw how a shower can make a big difference in someone’s life.
