72nd Venice Film Festival

Due to us having to move hosts again updates have been next to non existent here but that does not mean Nicholas didn’t do anything. To start off I have finally added photos of Nicholas during the 72nd Venice Film Festival from earlier last month. He was there to promote “Equals”. I also added photos from Nicholas during the GQ Men Of The Year Awards which Nicholas attended right after VFF. Massive thanks to my friend Gabby, who is the webmaster of Tom Hiddleston Online, for donating some photos of Nicholas during the GQ Men of the Year Awards.

Nicholas talks “Mad Max” and working with Kristen Stewart

You might recognize him as the young Hank McCoy from “X-Men: Days Of Future Past”, or from his time playing a zombie with heart in “Warm Bodies”, but if you’re unfamiliar with the work of Nicholas Hoult you’re about to get a face-full with his two latest projects – “Mad Max: Fury Road” and “Equals”.

During his cowboy hat and tequila soaked time at SXSW, Rick Campanelli also got the chance to speak with Hoult at The Boffin’s Lab Powered by Jaguar and WIRED Insider party and the actor opened up about his experience on set of the highly anticipated “Mad Max” reboot.

“I’m just glad everyone’s going to get to see it,” the actor tells Rick. “We filmed it two and a half years ago, and it’s been in director George Miller’s…it’s been in his mind for many years more than that, so it’s exciting.”

One of the things that got the young actor’s engine revving was the cars. “My car in [the film] is a V8 hot rod,” he explains continuing on about why he “got chills” on set.

Selective Films buys “Equals” for France

Selective Films has acquired French rights to Drake Doremus’ sci-fi love story “Equals.” Starring Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult, “Equals” is set in the future where emotions have been eradicated, but a disease can cause them to return.

Just when most French distributors are either too cash-strapped or cautious to continue picking up U.S. indies, Jean-Philippe Tirel’s company is staying active, targeting few high-profile U.S. projects at script stage, such as “Nightcrawler.”

Selective Films also recently acquired “The Riot Club” (with Orange/Paramount) and “The Coup” (with SND).

Tirel and Selective Films partner Maya Hariri are attending the AFM with acquisition and marketing topper Romain Daubeach and is in discussions on four more titles.

Under its deal with Orange Studio, the film co-production and co-distribution arm of the telco company, “Equals” will be released in France by Paramount in late 2015 or early 2016.

Repped by Mister Smith Entertainment, the movie began shooting in Japan and Singapore in August. Ridley Scott’s Scott Free is producing with Route One.
