A new trailer for Nicholas’ film “Collide” has been released. The film will be released in the U.S. on August 19.

admin / October 18th, 2015

It’s official. The Nicholas Hoult thriller Collide becomes the first project offloaded by Relativity Media as the company continues to move through the bankruptcy process.

Open Road Films has acquired the European-set chase movie for U.S. distribution from IM Global. According to court documents filed Sept. 26 in New York and obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, the Ryan Kavanaugh-led studio was trying to sell the film to IM Global for a $200,000 payment plus contingent compensation of up to $630,000. The proposed agreement called for Open Road to provide Relativity with audit statements.

Open Road CEO Tom Ortenberg and IM Global CEO Stuart Ford have confirmed that Open Road will release the film wide on April 1.

Directed by Eran Creevy and starring Hoult, Felicity Jones, Anthony Hopkins and Ben Kingsley, the film was financed by IM Global and China’s DMG Entertainment, with additional financing by Sycamore Pictures. Joel Silver produced along with Ben Pugh and Rory Aitken via 42 and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones via Automatik. Action Concept also was a producer.

The film revolves around a young American couple (Hoult and Jones) who are plunged into a game of cat-and-mouse across Germany when they find themselves caught between two ruthless feuding criminals (Hopkins and Kingsley).

Deadline is reporting that “Collide” (previously known as “Autobahn”) is looking for a new distributer now that Relativity has filed for bankruptcy.

British director Eran Creevy’s hot title Collide, previously known as Autobahn, has extricated itself from Relativity with a new domestic deal set to close within days. This is a fluid situation and Deadline understands that Creevy’s film, which stars Nicholas Hoult, Felicity Jones and Anthony Hopkins, is generating much demand with multiple offers on the table. It had been set for release by Relativity on October 30. However, with Ryan Kavanaugh’s beleaguered company now in Chapter 11, the film’s producers have been able to get it back on the market, where it is certain to get snapped up soon.

After a heist goes terribly wrong, Casey Stein (Hoult) finds himself on the run from a ruthless gang headed by mob boss Hagen (Hopkins). Now Casey has precious cargo that belongs to Hagen, who will stop at nothing to retrieve it. Left with no choice, Casey calls his former employer and drug smuggler Geran (Ben Kingsley) to protect his long-time girlfriend Juliette (Jones) before Hagen gets his hands on her. Casey sets out on an adrenaline-fueled car chase on the German highways to save the love of his life.

Creevy, who also co-wrote the screenplay with F. Scott Frazier, is one of the UK’s most exciting emerging directorial talents, known for bringing intelligence and style to genre fare (Shifty, Welcome To The Punch). Collide is produced by Joel Silver, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Insidious 2) and Brit management-production powerhouse 42 partners Ben Pugh and Rory Aitken. Pugh and Aitken also produced Creevy’s previous features. Stuart Ford’s IM Global is handling the domestic deal. Reps for the producers and IM Global were unavailable for comment.

Relativity filed for bankruptcy yesterday and now THR is reporting what might happen to the films they have down the pipeline, including Nicholas’ upcoming movie “Collide” (previously known as “Autobahn”)

Relativity, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection today, may be shedding films. But with an auction now pending, lenders have a vested interest in seeing the company remain in the film business. And to do that, a restructured Relativity will need to keep some product in the pipeline.

Now that Relativity has filed Chapter 11, there are several high-profile titles in flux. Autobahn, now titled Collide, the action-thriller starring Felicity Jones, Nicholas Hoult and Anthony Hopkins, which had been penciled in an Oct. 30 release, is among that group. “If it stays at Relativity, it’s a disaster,” says one person involved with the film. However, other parties involved in the production would still like to see it remain at Relativity.

He’s maybe too young to take on the role of Bond quite yet, and is yet to be tapped for a role in the ever-expanding Fast and the Furious film series, but enterprising British actor Nicholas Hoult loves the feeling of his hands gripping a steering wheel around a curve.

“I’ve always been a bit of a petrol head,” says Hoult, who’s recently starred in X-Men’s First Class series as Hank McCoy, aka Beast. His laundry list of upcoming projects could be considered evidence enough, with high-speed thriller Autobahn and the remake of Mad Max, a post-apocalyptic epic based in a world that kills for gasoline, releasing later this year.

In just a few moments of conversation it’s clear that Hoult’s affinity for the open road is not just a passing fancy or part-time enchantment having just returned from a long, solo road trip through the English countryside.

Hoult will be in Austin, Texas tonight for the public reveal of Jaguar’s XE S sports sedan at The Boffin’s Lab during SXSW. But first, the London-based thespian sat down with us to talk about the thrill of racing down a virgin stretch of the Autobahn, and what it’s like to have a few hundred horses sitting beneath you when a fan revs their engine at the line.

You’ve just filmed a couple of projects that involve driving in unconventional circumstances. What’s one of the more intense terrains you’ve encountered?
I’ve driven both the Jaguar XF and the F5 in Finland, on a frozen lake actually. They handled that very well I can say with authority. I got to get taken out in the F-Type V8 on the Top Gear test track, which was just insane. That thing flies and it sounds incredible.

International chase thriller “Autobahn” starring Nicholas Hoult and Felicity Jones has been set for an Oct. 30, 2015 release date, Relativity Studios and IM Global announced Wednesday.

Evan Creevy directed the film he co-wrote with F. Scott Frazier. Anthony Hopkins and Ben Kingsley also star.

The story follows Casey (Hoult), who schemes to pull a drug heist for an eccentric gangster (Kingsley) to pay for his girlfriend’s (Jones) medical emergency while abroad.

After a failed attempt, he embarks across Europe on an action-packed chase in a race against time to save his girlfriend’s life from being taken by an evil druglord (Hopkins).

Relativity Studios acquired U.S. distribution rights for the film in November 2014 from leading independent producer, financier and distributor IM Global, a subsidiary of Reliance ADA.

Relativity Studios has acquired U.S. distribution rights to action-thriller “Autobahn” starring Nicholas Hoult, Felicity Jones, Anthony Hopkins and Ben Kingsley.

Eran Creevy (“Welcome to the Punch”) directed from a script he co-wrote with F. Scott Frazier about a desperate man (Hoult) who schemes to pull a drug heist on an eccentric gangster (Kingsley) in order to pay for his girlfriend’s medical emergency.

IM Global and China’s DMG Entertainment financed the film with additional financing provided by Sycamore Pictures and Ingenious Media. Producers are Joel Silver, Ben Pugh and Rory Aitken of 42, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones of Automatik and Daniel Hetzer of Germany’s Action Concept.

IM Global is selling international rights at the American Film Market this week. CAA is representing domestic rights.

The deal was brokered by IM Global topper Stuart Ford and Deborah Zipser.

“Relativity is the perfect home for this action-packed, adrenaline-filled international thriller and we’re delighted at their enthusiasm for ‘Autobahn,’” said Ford.

The film was shot in Germany with subsidies from DFFF, the German Federal Film Fund, and NRW, the North Rhine-Westphalia funding entity.
